Our Mikusha passed away tonight..

Our precious girl, the best dog in the world.. It is difficult for me to convey my feelings, because in fact i don’t feel anything, I feel just emptiness..
The cause of death is unofficial, we did not do an autopsy, Mika left at night in a dream, but we suspect 2 reasons:
1. Stomach ulcer
2. A tumor in the stomach

Now I want to write my thoughts on this and I want to dedicate this post to all those who, in search of a puppy, ask me for “the largest puppy! I want the dog to be huge!” and to those breeders who, trying to satisfy this demand, deliberately produce the largest and most massive representatives of the breed in order to get “huge” puppies.

So, let’s go, be patient – it’s worth reading.
To begin with, our Mika was “huge”, she was huge even for a male, not to mention females. On one of the first pictures she sits next to quite a big male Ebay Del Tibur and she is taller!
She wasn’t massive, no, but she was very, very large, tall, with a large body and head, on long legs.
And the problems because of this began quite a long time ago.
What do we know about the problems of large dog breeds that suffer in the first place? That’s right, joints.
First of all, they suffer, the reason for this is weight and height. And it’s not about fat, really large dogs have a very heavy body in general, muscles and bones. Even after losing weight in the last week, Mika remained very difficult to lift.
Joint problems started several years ago, so Mika was constantly in need of supportive medications and vitamins.
Choosing such a “large” puppy, you first of all have to think about what it will cost you. We have done a lot of work to keep Mika’s joints in working shape. But as the years passed, it did not pass without a trace, all this turned into pain, which we also had to deal with medically, namely to give her painkillers.
And here comes the second problem – the stomach.
The stomach of large dogs is already prone to problems, namely, most often such breeds as Great Danes, St. Bernards, and other very tall and heavy breeds have to deal with this disease. Expansion or bloating, and inversion of the stomach is most often found in these breeds and in many ways a parallel is drawn with the size of the dog. You can read separately how this is related and why, but in short, anatomically and mathematically, these indicators differ greatly, which causes problems.
Fortunately, we managed to avoid the inversion, but Mika was on the verge.
Again, medicines.
But what happens when a dog spends several years in a row on painkillers for joints and all sorts of drugs for the stomach? The consequences begin..
It’s no secret that a large number of painkillers can cause stomach ulcers, literally make a hole there. And also provoke the development of a tumor.
We do not claim 100% since we did not do an autopsy, but all the symptoms indicate an ulcer.
Mika has been suffering for the last week with her stomach, but in fact she has been suffering with it for much longer, just animals can’t tell us..
She only had a holter done a month ago, her heart was in great shape and overall she was healthy, but what killed her was her size!
I will never take a large Doberman again in my life, I have been keeping medium-sized puppies from the litter for a long time and I am very happy about it.
It is easier for them to move, jump, they are lighter and more maneuverable, their joints do not hurt (with proper care) and they do not suffer from stomach.
I want everyone who reads this to think carefully about what size of Doberman he wants.
Giant Dobermans, as is fashionable now – it’s not cool, it doesn’t look beautiful or intimidating as many people think, it’s not good at all! This is only torment in the future, for your dear baby it will be hell in old age, and for you it’s tears and a lot of investments.
It was very painful for me to look at Mika for the last couple of years, although she was a joyful and cheerful dog as always, I saw how she suffered in moments of seizures. I would never want to see this again..
I have been dissuading all people who come to me for a puppy from large puppies for a couple of years, and I try to breed only medium-sized dogs.
Judges at exhibitions began to encourage tall dogs, instead of not giving them a course in breeding.
Not many judges use a height meter, but thanks to those who do it.
Dobermans of the Molossian type fall into the same category, they may not always be tall, but they suffer from the same problems and do not live long, they also have a bunch of other problems besides this.
I want to wish everyone just one thing, that you and your dogs would never go through this. It’s scary, it hurts and in the end it just takes away your strength..
I want to thank our doctor Svetlana Napasova who tried to help and everyone who supported us at this moment..🙏🏻
